Careers at Karas So LLP

Hong Kong Training Programme

We offer a two-year training contract to graduates who have demonstrated academic excellence, practical ability and the highest levels of achievement.  Working alongside some of the brightest legal minds, you will gain experience not only in dispute resolution matters but also across the full spectrum of private client work.  Additionally, you could apply for a secondment to work in the London office of Mishcon de Reya, our associated firm, for up to six months.

What we offer:

  • Intellectually challenging work – given our strength in disputes and investigation, trainees can expect to develop skills and experience in civil litigation and procedure, international arbitration, company law, corporate and regulatory investigations, insolvency and asset recovery.
  • Responsibility from day one - trainees work directly with senior lawyers, principals and clients on legal matters. Their responsibilities include legal research, drafting correspondence, court documents and agreements, and factual investigation and analysis.  Trainees are schooled on the firm’s research methodology, approach to practice, technological tools and international resources.
  • A vibrant work environment – trainees are an integral part of the team and are encouraged to participate in the firm’s social and community activities.
  • Equal opportunity to all – everyone in our firm, including trainees, benefit from a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Competitive compensation – our trainee salaries are carefully benchmarked against market rates for international law firms in Hong Kong.  We review compensation annually to ensure that it remains competitive.

Training contract and support

Our training contract offer is contingent upon successfully completing the PCLL course in Hong Kong.

Candidates are usually expected to complete a summer internship with us before being considered for a training contract offer.

If you secure a training contract offer with us before commencing the PCLL, we will provide a maintenance grant during your PCLL studies and cover PCLL tuition fees. This support is conditional on your subsequent completion of the training contract with us.

Summer Internships

Applications for our 2025 summer internships are now closed. For candidates who are interested in seeking training contracts commencing in September 2026, 2027 or 2028, please stay tuned - we will be accepting applications for 2026 summer internships commencing 1 September 2025.  In the absence of special circumstances, completing a summer internship with us is a prerequisite to being considered for a training contract offer.
